The Hyderabad administration's plan to implement the double bed room housing scheme has hit a roadblock due to non-availability of land in the district.
Over 40,000 applications were received (Between November and December) by the Hyderabad district administration while their Rangareddy counterparts received nearly 1.1 Lakh applications. However the Hyderabad administration has made a plea to aspirants no to visit the Hyderabad collectorate until the Government issues guidelines. However the officials were accepting application during the " Mee Kosam" programme every Monday so that aspirants are not to left dejected.
One of the official informed as Apart from 40,000 applications, nearly 1.7 lakh applications were lying with district administration for nearly decade seeking shelter under various housing schemes" of 1.7 Lakh applications, we have provided shelters to nearly 20,000 beneficiaries under the Rajiv Gruha Kalpa scheme.
According to revenue records, there is only 66 acre litigation free Government land in 16 mandals in the district. "After Chief Minister gave instructions to Hyderabad and Rangareddy district collectors on identifying land to construct 2BHK flats, hyderabad district administration has prepared a report on land availability in its jurisdiction.
According to the report there is nearly 300 acre land (scattered) available in 68 parcels in 16 mandals, of which only 66 acres are litigation free,
Hyderabad collector Rahul Bojja said "there is no open land in the district, we have identified 26 notified slum area to fulfil the Government assurance. The construction of the 2BHK flats will be taken up in a phased manner and completed in three years. Applications for 2BHK houses will be accepted after conduct of "Ward Sabhas". Clarity on wether the Hyderabad District administration or GHMC will organise the ward sabhas will emerge soon"
The project officer, Rajiv Gruha Kalpa, Rangareddy District, J Srinivas told "Soon sabhas will be organised to receive applications. Citizens who have already applied need not to submit again"
